Well, another fun Lady Dottie and the Diamonds show down in the history books! This one was a matinee rock 'n roll dance party at Gallagher's in OB (Ocean Beach, for my non-San Diego friends and readers). Once I was fueled up with the help of a breakfast burrito from Nino's, it was a cinch to get behind the drum kit and just go with the flow with this San Diego Music Award-winning band, which featured Joe Guevara (vocals, keyboards, and harp), Stephen Rey (bass), Dan Porter (guitar), and the star of the show -- Lady Dottie.
As I've written before, the Diamonds are a bit of an institution at Gallagher's, so I'm really glad to be back, and looking forward to the coming shows we have on the books with them. The weather was great today (a tad warm for this Swede, but I really can't complain), and the crowd was ready to move and groove.
It's always struck me that for whatever reason, there is a special rapport between the OB Gallagher's crowd and Lady Dottie and the Diamonds. And it really must be said that when it comes to consistent dancers on the floor, this venue commands the undisputed number one spot in San Diego.
The legendary Ace was in the house, doing his magic on the dance floor, and proving that age is no obstacle for those of us with chronic cases of party feet. Ace deserves his own post devoted entirely to him, so I'll save that for another day.
Thanks to all those who made this return a successful one, and I can't wait to be back in Ocean Beach with Lady Dottie and the Diamonds soon. And thanks - as always - for staying tuned in!
