Light Sabers, Police Hoopties, and Lady Dottie -- Just Another Weekend in San Diego

Well, another great San Diego weekend in the books, with its usual mix of friends, music, and, um...light sabers.  

As many of you know, I play drums regularly with Lady Dottie and the Diamonds. It's always a blast playing our weekly rock 'n roll dance party at Café 21 every Saturday, but this weekend was especially fun, aided by the international phenomenon we know as Comic-Con.

Before the show and between sets, it was a lot of fun to soak up the Comic-Con vibes. Though the official event really only takes place at the San Diego Convention Center, the festivities spill out into downtown at night. As I sat on my drum throne laying down party grooves for the San Diego Music Award-winning band, I thoroughly enjoyed watching a parade of Deadpools, Ninja Turtles, Jedis, and zombies informally parade and socialize down 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp.
